Mount St. Louis Moonstone enlarges the learning areas of Moonstone and Mount St. Louis in 2000. Improvements and the widening of Big Lonely Slope allows for snowmaking to be added. 2001 begins phase 1 of a 3 year project, moving 400,000 cubic meters of dirt along the upper ridge of the Tiroler slope to replace the double and triple chairs with another six person chair. Sizable improvements were made to the Mount St. Louis chalet. The downstairs cafeteria, guest services and boutique were remodeled as well as adding state of the art washroom facilities. The clock tower at the Mount St. Louis chalet was constructed and the clock to be installed in 2003. The learning area of Moonstone was increased in 2002, allowing for the relocation of the Novice Cable. Once again, snowmaking capacity was upgraded by 25 percent. The 3rd floor of the Mount St. Louis Chalet was completely finished making it available for large groups, conferences and special occasions. Mount St. Louis Moonstone experiences one of the best winters in Canadian history for the 2002/03 season. During the summer of 2003, renovations made to the Moonstone chalet including improvements to the rental shop, washrooms and the boutique. The clock was installed and the decorative murals were painted on the clock tower at the Mount St. Louis chalet. A new Crystal glide finish high tech tuning machine by Montana was purchased. Entering Phase 2 of 3, Mount St. Louis Moonstone moved another 400,000 cubic meters of dirt to the top of the East Arm slope. Two ticket offices were removed out of the main office to enlarge the office area. A second magic carpet replaced the beginner cable at Mount St. Louis. Another Zaugg super pipe groomer was purchased and two super pipes were added to the Mount St. Louis Moonstone terrain. A 30-year engineering audit took place in 2004 on the Timberline Double and Stretcher Triple. It took most of the summer to repair major damage done to our slopes from heavy rains in May. Construction of the super pipes is completed. An automated snowmaking system was installed in the Super pipes. During the summer of 2005, two more engineering reviews were completed on the Sundance and Venture lifts. Hill building was continued at the top of the East Arm Slope moving approximately another 400 000 cubic meters. An additional 2 bays were added to the Shop Maintenance building. The cable tow at the Moonstone beginner’s area was replaced with the Mount St. Louis Moonstone's third magic carpet lift. A major facelift was given to the Resort’s website as well as computerizing the rental shop. During the summer of 2006: Lift Improvements: Snowmaking Improvements: Grooming Improvements: Rental Improvements: Program Improvements: The start of the 2006-2007 seasons gave Mount St Louis Moonstone one of the most challenging seasons on record. Early snowfall in October gave way to very little in November, December, and January. When most thought winter would never arrive at Mount St Louis, Moonstone impressed them all. A few cold nights allowed us to make snow that provided enough coverage to let us open December 8, 2006 and stay open for the season, other area Resorts had to close over Christmas.
